We are delighted to hear the news that FIVP Chair Rita Dingwall is to receive an Honorary Associateship as part of the RCVS Honours & Awards.

Honorary Associateships are awarded to laypeople that have made a special contribution to the veterinary industry. In previous years, this honour has been given to researchers, academics, charity workers, business leaders and journalists.

Over 30 years of experience in the veterinary sector

Rita’s award recognises over 30 years of experience in the veterinary sector, which has included time as a practice manager and an independent veterinary business consultant. She became a Business Development Manager at FIVP in 2020 and has since become the Chair.

She has also devoted 11 years to improving practice standards, served as president for the Veterinary Practice Management Association, and recently qualified as an accreditor for BVA’s Great Workplaces scheme.

“The epitome of a ‘people person’”

Rita was nominated for the award by Pam Mosedale, a former Lead Assessor for the Practice Standards Scheme. Pam praised Rita’s vast experience in practice management and commended her ability to develop members of the team.

Pam said: “She is the epitome of a ‘people person’ and through her strong empathy skills can assess and help practices deal with any area of conflict, either within the team itself or the interface with the practices’ client base.

“She has that rare ability to combine an amazing business acumen with compassion and empathy and her sage guidance and support has proved invaluable to many in the profession.”

“On behalf of everyone at FIVP, we offer our sincerest congratulations.”

Ian Wolstenholme, FIVP Business Development Manager, said: “Rita’s long service and dedication to veterinary business management has deservedly been recognised.

“Rita’s influence on so many managers, in which I can include myself, who work/have worked in veterinary practice management is simply legion. I’m sure that, for Rita and her colleagues throughout the industry, July 4th will be a truly memorable occasion for one of our great non-clinical ambassadors.

“On behalf of everyone at FIVP, we offer our sincerest congratulations.”

Rita will receive her award as part of RCVS Day on 4 July 2025.
