Last week we were delighted to meet with hundreds of veterinary professionals, industry partners and students at the London Vet Show. Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, it was a bustling event, and we welcomed lots of new and old faces to our stand.
London Vet Show was a big success for FIVP, and we were encouraged by the high number of practices striving to remain independent. We learnt of several new start-up practices and discussed our exciting member benefits with our sponsors, including Rudlings Solicitors and AT Veterinary Systems.
During the event, we also handed out copies of our latest booklet – Your Career, Your Life – Job opportunities in Independent Practice – which can also be accessed here for anyone seeking a career in independent practice. The booklet contains an array of exciting opportunities in small animal, farm, equine and mixed practice at FIVP member practices across the UK.
We also spoke about our involvement with the RCVS Working Party regarding sustainability in veterinary practices and how best to support new graduates. Later this month, FIVP will be attending the Extra-Mural Studies (EMS) stakeholder meeting at Belgravia House, where we will be contributing to the discussion on the future of EMS for veterinary students.
Rita Dingwall, FIVP business development manager, said: “After the ongoing challenges of 2021, it was a real pleasure to catch up with many of our existing members, face to face, at the London Vet Show and to welcome new members to FIVP.
“There have been significant changes as to how the business of veterinary practise is now conducted, and practices have had to adapt. Mental wellbeing has been very much in people’s minds during the pandemic and the feeling of being very much alone. FIVP has offered support to many practices and will continue to do so, in this new world that we are now living in.”
